About the Network
The voice of patients in Malta
Malta Health Network is the national umbrella body for the country's health and patient NGOs — independent of government and political parties, and dedicated to putting patients at the centre of health policy.
The MHN promotes the health-related interests of patients and the wider community by updating itself about international “best practices” and “capacity-building”, and by engaging with governmental and non-governmental entities.
Established in 2007 with 20 founding members, the Network has grown to represent more than 40 organisations. It actively champions the European Charter of Patients' Rights and maintains its independence from government and political entities.
What we do
The organisation pursues nine core objectives, including amplifying patient voices in health policy, facilitating communication between governmental bodies and health organisations, and influencing both national and EU health directives.
MHN holds certification from Malta's Office of the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations (VO/076) and operates under an approved statute and governance policies.
