Our story
History of MHN
From 20 founding members in 2007 to a coalition of more than 40 organisations, the Malta Health Network has spent nearly two decades building one national voice for patients.
2007 Malta Health Network founded with 20 member organisations.
2008 Becomes a cooperating partner of the Active Citizenship Network (Cittadinanzattiva).
2009 Joins the European Public Health Alliance as a full member.
2010 Joins the European Patients Forum as a full member.
2017 Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Malta Medicines Authority; hosts the SIP (Societal Impact of Pain) Malta symposium.
2018 Marks its 10th anniversary with training events on Patient Empowerment Through Knowledge.
2019 Courtesy visit to H.E. the President of Malta; discussions on patient empowerment, chronic pain and EUPATI.
2021 Membership grows to 40 organisations.
2022 Collaboration agreement with the Commissioner for Health (Office of the Ombudsman).
2026 Parliament unanimously approves Living Will legislation — a long-standing patient-rights priority.
